- How do I get started?
- First you must register using our simple online form and then purchase credits. After that you can join any auction you have your eye on and start bidding immediately.
- What does a bid cost?
- Bids on most auctions will cost 1 credit. On a Variable Credit auction the cost of the bid is displayed on the auction detail screen.
- Credits are sold in credit-packages of different sizes and all credits cost €0.10/ £0.08/ US$0.14/ R1.00.
- Can I buy an Item even If I don’t win an auction?
- On Buy Now Auctions you may buy an item directly at the stated price without entering an auction. Also, at any time during an auction (even after you have used credits) you may buy the item at the discounted price as displayed next to the Buy Now button. The credits used before using the Buy Now option will be offset against the advertised retail price.
- Is it safe to bid on Smokoo?
- When you register a Smokoo account we are required by best practice to identify and verify your personal credentials: We do this by requesting a copy of both your ID/ Passport and Proof of Residence. This legislation has been implemented as a preventive measure to reduce money laundering and fraud with transactions online.
- All of your personal data, login credentials and account records are protected by advanced encryption and firewall technology. You are advised that Smokoo will never request details of your login credentials by email or SMS under any circumstances. Please treat any such request as a potential phishing attempt and inform Smokoo of the event immediately.
